Weigel Workers Union
Building a Better Workplace Together

What do unions do?
Build Worker Power
"Workers represented by a union have a powerful voice that strengthens their ability to negotiate with their employer about their concerns."
-U.S. Department of Labor,
"What is a Union?"
Collective Bargaining
Union members democratically vote on issues and concerns that will be brought to the bargaining table, as well as which members will represent the group when negotiating.
Protect Workers Rights
A union provides oversight when it comes to honoring the terms of a bargained contract; it also offers additional enforcement of labor laws and safety regulations. Unions can provide legal support for wrongfully terminated workers or victims of discrimination.
Why join Weigel Workers Union?
Unity
Issues or concerns at the workplace can be raised by the Union without fear of retaliation towards outspoken individuals. Instead of a lone voice speaking up against management, issues can be presented as a collective.
Consistency
Illinois is an at-will employment state. Changes to your employment status or arrangements can be made by your employer at any time. A contract creates a multi-year roadmap for wages, schedules, policies, and more that cannot be altered without employee approval.
Solidarity
The Weigel Workers Union allows us to band together and fight for one another to ensure we all see improvements to our daily lives. Despite our different circumstances, we are all entitled to safe working conditions and benefits. The Union provides a direct link between the work we all do and meeting the needs of our coworkers.
